Aronia Juice Reduces Anxiety and Depression Symptoms
Aronia, the new superfruit, joining acai and goji, has the highest concentration of polyphenols among all fruits. Polyphenols are recognized for their antioxidant properties, protecting against stress, as well as illnesses, due to their immune system supporting effect.
New studies show that the polyphenols in these fruits reduce anxiety and alleviate symptoms of depression.
Natural treatments for depression and anxiety are becoming increasingly popular, as studies show the effect of antioxidants on patients suffering from these conditions.
Laboratory research has shown that the juice has positive effects on mood after two weeks of use. Guinea pigs on which the juice was tested showed increased performance in various orientation and endurance tests compared to animals that drank only water. Other studies conducted on guinea pigs deprived of social interaction showed that the juice can combat anxiety caused by loneliness. Also, within the same study, the juice was compared to Diazepam, with both substances having similar effects.
These results demonstrate the effectiveness of the juice when consumed for at least one month. The high antioxidant content supports mental and emotional health, as well as physical endurance. Like cranberries, these fruits have a slightly bitter taste when consumed as is.
The most popular form of consumption is juice, but the small fruits retain their properties even when thermally processed.
